Veterinary College Offers Conference for Horse Owners
Veterinary College Offers Conference for Horse Owners
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The
University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) will host the Horse
Owner Education Conference Saturday, May 22. Registration begins at 7:30
a.m. and the conference lasts until 5 p.m. It will be held in Hollingsworth
Auditorium on the UT agricultural campus.
Since a good horse owner is an
educated horse owner, the veterinary college wants to provide reliable and
accurate information. The conference is designed for those who have owned
horses for years or are new to the horse world. UTCVM equine
veterinarians will cover such topics as emergency first aid, acute lameness,
foal emergencies, information about lacerations, dystocias, colic, and
toxicities. Gary Sanderson, the owner of Amigo, an endurance horse who was
impaled by a tree branch and spent several months in UTs equine hospital, will
present Amigo, one amazing horse. Amigo became a Facebook sensation and has been
featured extensively in local news media and equine magazines.
The fee for the conference is $25 for
the first family member and $15 for each additional family member. This fee
covers lunch, refreshments, and materials. Advance registration is requested to
ensure adequate food and supplies. For more information or to download the
registration form, click
